As the Director of Data Science you will bring leadership to expand our methodologies, maximize the impact from data science, and manage a team that will use these core assets to have a big impact on the Syndio products.
In this role you will be hands-on working within Data Science, ML, AI, and NLP. You will evangelize these fundamentals throughout the company by engaging in technical discussions with engineering and business leaders.
- Lead modeling, including the introduction of new and innovative to existing problems as well as the methodology of causal inference and experimental design
- You will collaborate with leadership to establish a road-map and vision for your team to support the large and growing data products that will directly impact company strategy and direction
- You will apply your expertise in machine learning, quantitative analysis, experimentation and the presentation of data to build ML, AI and Optimization capabilities in Syndio products.
- You will be responsible for partnering closely with the Product team to expand our Data products
- You will manage a highly skilled team of data scientists and a data engineer by providing a positive work environment by coaching and advocating for them.
- You will drive applied research partnerships with business and technical leaders across the company
- Analyze and evaluate existing and new data sources and apply the right analytical methods to facilitate insight generation in our market research product
- Identify, interpret, and predict trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Research and deploy statistical methods to improve the accuracy and reliability of the data
- Design and implement complex big data ETLs to drive core functionalities of our products
- Locate and define new process improvement opportunities for our data products
- Leadership experience within data science field
- Extensive industry experience in data science, machine learning, or a related technical field
- Experience in causal research including the deployment of models in a real world setting
- Experience supporting statistical methods and detailing their implications as well as manipulating different data sets to identify clear insights
- Experience designing applied research road map and executing the vision behind it
- Track record of delivering products that leverage applied science that influence product and engineering decisions
- Ability to translate complex business problems into achievable and actionable analytic projects
- Strong quantitative background and experience working with large data sets
- Advance knowledge of SQL, Python, and software development best practices

- 💰 Competitive Compensation. For this role our salary is targeted at $190,000 -$220,000 per year. Final offer amounts are determined by factors such as experience and expertise. We take a geo neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location.

The interview overview
Below you'll find an outline of the interview plan for our Director of Data Science position. Please note that this is what we expect the process to look like; we may ask you for supplemental information or require an additional step before making a final decision.
- 30 min interview with a member of our Talent Team
- 30 minute zoom interview with the CTO
- Four video interviews with several team members - 2.25 hours
- Take home assignment (note that we do this is lieu of live coding)
- Final technical interview to review take-home with Data Scientist - 45 minutes
